Cooking Tips

Cooking Tip #1 - Avoid boil overs

Have you ever heard the phrase " a watched pot never boils"? Not TRUE. It does boil and it will boil over making a huge mess to clean up. Boiling over usually happens with noodles or pasta after you have put them in boiling water and are instructed to boil for 10-12 minutes. Tip: Watch your pot as it comes to a boil. As the foam from the noodles or pasta begins to rise, add a few tablespoons of water. Keep a cup of water next to the pot. Adding a little water will make the foam go down instantly. You will not have time to take the boiling pot off the burner before it boils over onto the stove top or down inside the burners. When this happens, the smell is terrible. As you add a little water, turn down the heat slightly. You'll reach the right temperature and boiling will continue but not boiling over. Remember to stir the pot occasionally and scrape the bottom of the pot while stirring.

Cooking Tip #2- Getting Jars open

Can't get your jar opened? No one home to help? Turn the jar upside down and bang it on the counter a few times. It will help loosen the lid.

Cooking Tip #3:

A large , deep, non stick skillet with a lid is agreat investment. The skillet will last for years if you take care of it. It will also be your "best friend" in the kitchen. A shot of cooking spray and plastic utensils and their is nothing you can't do. You can lterally wipe them clean.
