Easy Dinners
Spaghetti with meat sauce: Serves 5
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 jars of spaghetti sauce with roasted garlic
- 1 lb thin spaghetti
- 1 loaf French bread
- Brown and rinse ground beef.
- Add spices to taste (salt, pepper, Italian season, garlic salt)
- Add jars of sauce to ground beef. Simmer in pot on low heat.
- Put a large pot of water on stove and bring water to a boil.
- Add spaghetti to boiling water.
- Turn heat of water and spaghetti to low and cook per package instructions.
- Drain water from spaghetti.
- Cut French bread in half long ways.
- Spread with butter and sprinkle bread with garlic salt.
- Place bread in oven on broil. *Keep a close eye on the bread. It only takes a few minutes to toast and melt the butter.
Tips:
- You can add mushrooms, onion, chunks of tomato, peppers, and anything else you like to your sauce.
- use a large pot for your noodles. The bigger the pot and lots of water will stop the noodles from sticking together.
- Drain and rinse the ground beef for a better taste.
One of my favorite easy dinners
Beef tips and gravy with rice: Serves 4
- 4 round steaks
- 1 box instant rice
- 4 packages brown gravy mix (makes 2 cups each)
- Cut round steak into cubes (they cut easily if you put them in the refrigerator for about ten minutes.)
- In a skillet brown cubes of round steak. (use a small amount of water)
- Drain off water when steak cubes are browned.
- Add 4 cups of water to meat.
- Bring water and steak to a boil.
- In a bowl, mix 3 cups of cold water with four packages of gravy mix.
- Pour gravy mix into boiling water with meat.
- Use a whisk and stir until the mixture is thick.
- Turn off heat.
- Make rice according to directions.
Serve beef tips and gravy over rice. Make your favorite veggie and enjoy.
Pizza Burgers: makes 16 open faced pizza burgers
This fast and easy recipe has been in my family for over fifty years. It will feed a crowd. You can double or even triple the amount. I had lots of cousins growing up and we all still eat these. My kids are grown now but they still ask for this delicious meal.
- 8 lbs. hamburger meat
- 1 package hamburger buns (8 count)
- 1 box Velveeta cheese
- 1 jar pizza quick (pizza sauce)
- 1 tbsp oregano
- 1 tbsp Italian season
- Brown ground beef.
- Drain and rinse.
- Put hamburger in a large pot.
- Add oregano and Italian season.
- Leave on low to medium heat.
- Add Velveeta cheese. (cut into medium chunks)
- Add Pizza quick
- Cover pot
- Stir frequently while cheese melts.
- Preheat oven to broil.
- Raise rack as close to the broiler as possible.
- On a cookie sheet place bun halves face up.
- Spoon mixture onto buns
- Place in oven and broil until mixture is browned.
**Note: Watch them closely. They don't take long.
This is a fantastic open faced sandwich. One of my boys can eat seven of them. Serve with chips and dip. Left overs are great.
Frito Chili Pie:
- 2 cans Hormel Chili with beans
- Hot Sauce
- Diced onions
- Fritos Corn Chips
- Heat Chili in a saucepan.
- Layer crushed Fritos chips into the bottom of soup bowls.
- Cover chips with Chili, onions, shredded cheese, and hot sauce.
We always ate these when we went camping. They are so fast and easy.
Sloppy Joes:
- 1 Lb. ground beef
- 1 Large can of Hunts Manwich mix
- 1 pacage buns
- In a skillet, cook ground beef.
- Drain juice
- Add Manwich mix
- Heat and serve on buns
Great with chips and a pickle. How fast and easy was that?
